by - 8:00 AM

Title: Protecting Her
Author:  Alexis Noelle
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: June 15, 2015

I don’t do love. Hearts, flowers, dates, girlfriends, it’s all pointless. Why tie yourself down to one person when you can have a different one every night. Sure there have been a few that have intrigued me but none ever made me think about hanging around. No one ever haunted my thoughts after I left.

Until Her.

I just wanted one night of freedom. A chance to live without prying, judging eyes. When I met him, the moment he first touched me, it’s like I was hypnotized. I got caught up in the moment and made a mistake, I never thought he would be so cold after it. No one has ever made me feel that way.

Until him.

Hunter Stone never imagined when he was assigned to guard one of the world’s up and coming stars that she would be the girl he used the night before. Now he has to be around her and make sure that she’s safe. Samantha Baker has been receiving anonymous threats, the last person she expected to walk through the door was the man that dismissed her the night before. Now she has to deal with his arrogant attitude on a daily basis, while she is still infatuated with him.

When you push love away will you be able to recognize it when it’s right in front of your face? Or will everything be ripped away before you get the chance to really live?

4 out of 5 stars

Hunter and Samantha are two people who would only cross paths in the way they do in this book - he starts working for her. Hunter is hired by Samantha’s mother to be her new bodyguard. They actually have a previous connection that neither of them is ready to admit to each other - or anyone else for that matter.

However, just because their paths wouldn’t have crossed, doesn’t mean that they don’t have plenty in common. They are both scared to open themselves up to anyone because they have both been hurt before. Samantha is convinced that no one wants anything to do with the real person she is, just the famous face that everyone sees. However, she notices something different with Hunter very early.

As ridiculous as it is, I feel like he can see through the facade I put on for everyone else. When his eyes bore into me, it’s like he can see my soul and it scares the shit out of me. Half of the time he is a decent guy that I could actually see myself being with, the other half of the time I want to kick him in the dick with my heel.

And Hunter is putting up a front as an ass to keep her from falling for him and to keep himself from falling with her. Unfortunately - or fortunately - he isn’t very successful.

The feelings I have for her are developing so fast that I feel like I'm falling without a parachute. Maybe it’s because I haven’t let anyone in for so long. Maybe it’s just her. She creates this crazy kind of madness in me but for some reason it calms me at the same time.

The feelings in this book run deep. The secrets run even deeper. I have read other works by Ms. Noelle and have to say that her writing is just getting better and better with each book. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who wants a little drama with their love story…and watch out for those twists and turns. You definitely won’t see them coming.

The books she loves to read and write will be ones that make you feel for the characters.
