Title: Uncovered by Truth
Series: Lies and Truth Duet #2
Author: Rachael Duncan
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: June 17, 2015
My life has been full of uncertainties. Little did I know the biggest one would come in the form of a green-eyed beauty. She came into my life and flipped everything on its end and now things are more messed up than ever before.
Being former Special Forces, I’m no stranger to fighting, but this is different. This is personal. The stakes feel much higher and the struggle to save her will be my most challenging mission yet.
But I have a secret. A secret that threatens to tear apart everything we’ve built. I just hope she can overlook them when all is revealed.
You know me as Alex Matthews.
My mistake was getting involved with her, knowing what was on the line.
Their mistake was taking me away from her.

Man, I figured that things would be okay with Alex because how can there be a duet when one of the main characters is killed? I mean I know it’s happened before, but thank goodness he came back! The last book ended in such a horrible way that I was happy I hadn’t started before I could read this one, too.
This book starts with Alex’s POV and I really liked that. After the last book and never really hearing much from him, I was excited to see how the story would go from him. In general, I enjoy reading from a male POV better, but honestly both of these books were amazing!!!
Alex fights a tough battle to worm his way back to checking on Elizabeth. The journey to being together isn’t easy and it isn’t without drama, but said drama makes them realize just how wonderful their lives could be together.
One of my favorite thoughts from Alex comes when he kisses Elizabeth for the first time in awhile.
My lips connect with hers and it’s like fireworks in the dark of night. One simple touch and I’m lost and home all at once. I’m completely lost in her - to her - and find solace whenever she’s around.
The connections of characters was just as strong in this book as it was in the first - if not a little stronger - with some additional secondary characters coming into the story. I don’t want to give away too much of the story so I’m not going to talk about all the ways that Alex and Elizabeth reconnect, but man, this book had all the feels!
I really enjoyed this duet and can’t wait to see what Ms Duncan releases next.
“Oh my God, Alex. They’re going to kill us, aren’t they?” Her lip quivers as she grabs onto my arm.
I grab both of her shoulders and stare into her eyes. “No, they’re not. We’re going to stay right here and we’ll be fine, okay?”
“But they’re going to come in after us. We need to leave.” Her voice rises with urgency and I know I need to calm her down before she does something stupid out of fear.
“Good. Let them come in after us. We know they’re out there. They’re not expecting us to be ready for them. We know the layout of this cabin. They don’t. We’re going to position ourselves in a way that makes it impossible for them to surprise us. In here, we have the advantage.”
Rachael Duncan is an Army wife to her amazing husband, Steven, and mother to their beautiful daughters, Natalie and Zoe. 4½ out of 5 stars
Wow! Alex and Elizabeth and their connection just makes me giddy...and scared...and sad...and so many other emotions, but that’s what I loved so much about this book. Ms Duncan did a fabulous job of connecting not only the characters, but also the reader to the characters. I really feel like I know Alex & Elizabeth and I wish I could go visit them in DC.
Elizabeth is living a life that is totally built on lies and Alex is the first person to come along and realize that she’s lying all of the time. Elizabeth is married to a high ranking politician, Cal, whose family’s wealth goes back to the beginning of the United States. Elizabeth didn’t come from wealth, but married into it due to pressures from her mom about making sure she was taken care of in life.
Alex is hired as a personal bodyguard for Elizabeth after a break in at their house. Alex is intrigued by her immediately and she feels him seeping into her psyche as soon as they see each other for the first time.
His clear blue eyes pierce through mine in a way that makes me feel naked. Not in a sexual way, but in a vulnerable, he-can-see-straight-through-me way.
Though we never actually hear from inside Alex’s head, we know that he is having a very hard time maintaining strictly professional relationship with Elizabeth. The moment it all becomes clear is when he gives her a gift and the words he tells her just melted my heart. I was sure I was going to reach thru my Kindle and hug both of them because I was so happy for them.
Of course, this book isn’t without it’s share of drama and some of that drama is pretty intense. I loved every page and couldn’t wait to read the 2nd book. Seriously, this book duet is one that I can’t wait to pick up again and imagine I’m reading it for the first time again.
