The End of an Era

They call me the walking dildo.

Gratifying? Yes.

Something my mother would be proud of? Hell no!

Watching my best friend and my old friend-with-benefits blissfully walk down the aisle has just reiterated the fact that I’m thirty and perpetually single.

I thought I’d found the woman I wanted to spend my life with, you have to open your eyes to realize that it’s never gonna happen.

Funny how meeting the right person can finally make you see sense.

My name is Noah Taylor: kickass trauma surgeon, closet idealist, wishful thinker, and all round cocky asshole, and this is the year my life will change for the better.

*Disclaimer: This book features hot sex, filthy language, misuse of on-call rooms and the overdue redemption of the fake orgasm*

5 out of 5 stars

I swear that each new book boyfriend in this series just gets better and better. Noah was always the cocky @$$ in the other books, but I found him so endearing in this book that I love him more than the other guys. And the lead female really stole the show with her wit and forcing Noah to really earn her love. No doubt this is my favorite book of the Bliss Trilogy.

First of all, let me just say that Kate came into this novel and really blew me away again. My favorite line of hers in any of this series came in this book:

“I’m not here to fuck spiders. We’re here to solve whatever problem has you stuck in your head...So out with it - door one, two, or three?”

(((Edited to prevent you from finding out the special woman until you read it for yourself)))

This quote shows that the road for this couple wasn’t easy and wasn’t taken lightly. Both the lead female and Noah worked hard to get what they wanted and used everything within them and their circle of friends to make it happen.

Noah proved himself over and over to be a better man than anyone had given him credit for in the past. I love when the womanizer finds the woman that makes him calm down and really fall in love. This book was no exception to that.

“You wanted slow and steady, sweetheart. I tried to stay just friends but failed. I’ve shown you a side of me that very few people get to see. There are no secrets. There have been no lies. I want you. Only you. There is no one else but you.”

How could a guy say that to a girl and she not immediately fall in love with him and want to be with only him? Like I said, Noah was totally swoon-worthy in this book!

I felt like this was a great ending book for this series. All of the characters came into the book and showed how they were doing ever so discreetly or just point blank out there. The couples found what they were looking for and Mac paved the way for some amazing lifelong friendships. I also loved that the author used little nuances for each book and in this one there were several references to awards being given and it just made me smile each time.

I totally enjoyed this series and hope that everyone will give it a try!

Mac and Daniel are going in my book couple hall of fame. Their story is so edgy and happy and emotional and evolving and just perfect. This is the first book I’ve read by Ms Harvey, but I am confident it won’t be my last.

She does great sex scenes.

He lowers his mouth to mine and slowly inches his tongue along my lips. It’s a Daniel special: mind-blowing, erotic as hell, and successfully stoking the fire he started six short weeks ago when we met and that burns hotter than ever today.

Great character bonding with sweet (and silly) little nicknames. I love that Mac goes through several name changes with Daniel in her contact list on her phone: Sex on the Beach and Delicious Daniel.. It’s just so cute and endearing for me as a reader to really feel like such a part of her story.

I also love that he calls her gorgeous ALL THE TIME! He so sweet and the true gentleman that every girl dreams of finding to call her own. However, Mac doesn’t appreciate Daniel because she was burnt in the past and feels like making a commitment will only end in hurt. She doesn’t thinks she’ll screw it up or he’ll break her heart.

That drove me crazy. I wanted her to let it all go and just be in the moment. Listen to her friend Kate and really give Daniel the chance he deserved. At one point she even made a comparison with Daniel and her first boyfriend, Beau, but even that comparison didn’t help her really value what she had in Daniel.

Picture Mother Theresa and the Devil, that is the wide expanse that is the difference between Daniel Winters and Beau Gregory.

I found myself wanting more and more from this couple and I hope that in the rest of the series we keep watching them grow and become more. At least I’ll always have them in my own Hall of Fame.  :)

4 ½ out of 5 stars

This book was so great. I didn’t think I could love any characters in this series as much as Daniel and Mac, but boy was I wrong.

Zander and Kate had me from the get go. Kate is a crazy best friend who I absolutely adored in Temporary Bliss for her take no crap attitude and forcing Mac to do what she needed to. In this book, we get a much better understanding of why Kate kept herself closed off like she did.

Zander has grown so much since his days as one of Mac’s “friends with benefits”. Applying to the policy academy and trying to make something better of himself. Though he doesn’t quit the male stripper thing immediately, he definitely is finding it much less appealing than he used to.

There were so many great quotes and lines in this book that it’s hard for me to choose just a few to share. I think that both Kate and Zander went through major changes through this novel and I was so proud of who they became. Though it seemed that Zander had his eyes on Kate from the very beginning:

Ever since the first night I saw her I knew she was a forever kind of girl, one that deserved a lifetime of love, protection and hot sex. Back then I wasn’t in a position to offer love and protection. Now, I might be.

This quote was especially good for me because I saw the growth in him that he was finally seeing in himself as well. Though their first night was definitely a tribute to his maturity.

Kate doesn’t want to acknowledge what she feels for Zander because she thinks he doesn’t want her, but one night she finally lets her defenses down enough to realize what she’s looking at:

He give me a womb clenching smile, and I know I’m in trouble. He’s helping me, caring for me, and I can't resist it.

The other thing I really loved about this book was the little snippets of humor thrown in here and there that made me laugh out loud and even snicker to myself more than nor\mal in a book. I won’t share the quotes because finding them was half the fun, but they’re definitely worth the discovery!

If you liked (or even loved Mac & Daniel) like I did, give Zander and Kate a fair shot because they’re amazing as well!

I am really loving this series and every book has amazing characters. Sean and Sam are no exception.

Sean is a lawyer who has seen too much tragedy in his young life. Sam is a police officer who joined the force to make a better world. They actually dated in college when they were both pre-law students, but time and others’ actions broke them apart for 10 years. Now that they’ve reconnected, the question is how will the situation work itself out.

Sean was the Dominant friend with benefits for Mac in the first book. He’s a guy who likes control and isn’t afraid to admit it. He even has a club where such things can happen in the VIP rooms upstairs.

The first time they run into each other again is when Sam is visiting Sean’s brother, Ryan, in the hospital after arriving at a call earlier in the day where Ryan was hurt in what they thought was an attempted robbery. It’s been many years, but the passion and feelings haven’t really changed for either of them.

One of my favorite quotes in the book shows just how much of a caring person Sean is despite his Dominant tendencies.

I was taught by my grandfather that a man worth anything at all will tell a woman how much he adores her, showing her with his actions that he’s the luckiest son of a bitch on earth to be with her.

And then Sam, otherwise known at the police station as Ice Queen, has a softer side as well. She does love Sean and tells him just as much:

“I love my job, but I also love you, Sean, I’ve always loved you. I was just in denial. But I’m not hiding for it anymore. I want you, I want everything you can give me and more. I want to give you me, my body, my heart, everything. I hope you’re still willing to give me the chance.”

Sean and Sam have a love that most would die for and though they did give it up for a little while, I’m glad they rediscovered each other.

Mac and Daniel were the first in this wonderful series of characters who have grabbed a huge chunk of my heart and continue to bring me crazy worlds that are all too real.

Reading their engagement passage in the other book made my eyes water, but being at their wedding and experiencing all of that with them and the others made a wonderful novel.

If I didn’t read anything else in this book than the rehearsal dinner scene bring all of the guys from Mac’s life back together again, I would have been able to give this book 5 stars. Zander shows her what a keeper Daniel is and Sean and Noah being there just melts a little piece of my heart. Seriously, if I could have more babies, this chapter would have been able to spontaneously create them.

Well, then there are the wedding vows that Mac says which made me love Daniel all the more because he so helped her become who she is and made a wonderful commitment to a life that I so wish was mine. :)

Excerpt

Noah

“I got a text from Dan warning me that you might be a little drunk.”

“I’m a lot drunk, but that’s not the point. I’m not sure I can be with you anymore.”

He freezes mid step, and turns to face me at the same time as swinging my body around to meet his, chest to chest. “Say that again. I think you lost me.”

Because I’m drunk and although— in my mind — I’m telling myself that I deserve a lifetime of orgasms and I need to break up with him, I wind my arms around his neck and pull myself hard against him. His hands drop to my hips and hold me hostage as his eyes bore down into mine, obviously waiting for me to explain. “See, we got talking and Mac said she had to fake an orgasm with you, and I can’t live without orgasms. I like having orgasms. They’re fun and good for me, and they make me a very happy girl, so I need to have orgasms and if you’re just giving me your A game to lure me in and then you’re going to switch to your C or D game soon, which would suck—although Kate said the C game can be fun if you do it right . . . anyway, I need you to promise me a life full of lots and lots of orgasms or else I can’t go out with you anymore.”

Then I’m stopped by his lips hitting mine, his tongue delving into my mouth when it opens on a gasp of shock. He takes his time, he does the job right, and when he pulls back and nuzzles my neck, I’ve sagged against him and my hands are gripping into the back of his head as if my whole life depends on it.

“Are you going to start back up again, or do I need to put something in your mouth to stop you from spouting this shit?”

“It’s not shit. I need org—” He cups my jaw and kisses me long and deep, and with lots of effort on his part, and mine once I get past the shock of him shutting me up with his mouth for the second time in as many minutes.
“Now that we’ve established that you’re not breaking up with me, or going anywhere else other than my bed right now, can I take you inside so I can show you every trick I have in the book? And I’m gonna keep going until you get it through that drunken head of yours that you’re never going to have to fake an orgasm with me, now or ever.”
