Author Spotlight: The River Walk Collection - Noelle Bodhaine
Noelle Bodhaine and I met a few months back. I think it was at Al's Release Party for A Condo With Two Views. She was so fun and personable at the party. Such a sweet sweet person.
Over the last few months we had chatted a few times, but it was when Al introduced me to the entire River Walk gang that I really got to know her.
I cannot wait to read Voice, Speak, and Shout. Her books highly recommended by Tiffany and Diane. I will get to these babies soon!
What was your first thought when Al Daltrey approached you about the River Walk Collection?
First thought when Al approached me was a resounding HELL YES! Before I ever knew a detail.
Did you know the author’s involved with the River Walk Collection before the project?
I was aware of most these amazing ladies and I was blown away and humbled when the list of omen was revealed. I think I squealed and clapped!
How was it working with everyone on the project? You all seem like such a fun group.
I loved being a part of this group of women and one very lucky man! And all the extended family as well PA’s and editors. Such an amazingly talented bunch of people and I know I’ve learned a lot and will continue to do so.
Tell us a fun memory you will take with you after this project is complete.
Just watching Al try to keep up with 10 women in rapid fire threads! We be chatty!! {laughs hard} Poor Al. I picture him going what the hell.
Can you give us a little tease of your story in the River Walk Collection?
One Last Cigarette
His shirt front falls open, followed swiftly by my mouth. His chest is chiseled, but not from the gym, from genuine hard work. His skin is taught and tan, freckled and dusted with fine blonde hair. Where only six should reside, a cool eight pack begs for a lick, and I quickly contain myself before I drown in my own drool. Damn, it has been a while. I direct him to the changing stall in the back of the closet and quickly scurry out, waiting for him at the entrance, flushed, bothered and wet as the day is long.
{Sulks} You didn’t let me see that hunky man change! I am with Jackie! All worked up and drooling! We need to discuss you teasing me like this.
Will you continue your story after River Walk is complete?
I don’t know if I will continue after Riverwalk is complete. Tommy and Jackie will always live in my head but I suppose it depends on the people. If they want more…who am I to refuse?
{Bounces and waves my hand} Me, Me, Me!! I want more!!
What was the hardest part of your story if there was one?
I struggled with specific scenes. Al gave us amazingly detailed outlines, which was a relief. But as I believe myself to be the most vanilla swirl in this lovely sundae I was really focused on making those scenes as accurate and off the charts hot as possible while still maintaining my own voice.
Is there anything you would like to tell your readers?
I just hope readers can see…can read and hear the story and know it came straight from the heart. For me I think all of my stories will have an element of me in there somewhere and One Last Cigarette is no exception. A piece of me goes out in every story I share so I as I am complicated and hopefully unpredictable, I am also sincere and invested. I feel so lucky to be a part of this project!
This teaser is HOT!
Now let's get to know Noelle on a more personable level.
What was your inspiration that started your writing career?
My personal inspiration:
ROMANCE and the never ending journey we are all on to find it and harness it.
Like many out there these days I read 50. But after that I immersed myself in my kindle. I have always been a writer in my mind. I have a folder of short stories, fantasies and various other musings that goes all the way back to middle school…and yes…even then I was a bit of a perv! Guess it was truly meant to be.
How did you become interested in writing this genre?
I started looking at all these book boyfriends and thinking…where’s my guy? And viola. Rhys popped in on me and said a not too subtle hello. I wrote a few passages and shared it with some old friends and they demanded more. A year later I had a whole book and didn’t know what the hell to do with it…In walks Colleen my PA..my editor and greatest cheerleader!
What book influenced you the most growing up?
When I was young it has to be To Kill a Mockingbird. I read it a thousand times, picked it apart, put it back together. Just love in every way. As an adult I read of ton of historical non-fiction. I am obsessed with the great women of our past, near and far, famous and obscure. But for fun I absolutely loved The Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood. It completely captured my imagination and resonated deeply with me. So much so that I felt compelled to share it with every single woman in my life! {Gives you a wide eyed gasp} You are my soul sister. To Kill a Mockingbird is my number one book when I am asked this question. I know my High School and College Lit. classes hated my ass. I love the classics.
Name someone other than a family who has been a huge supporter during your writing career.
A dear dear friend from way back when is the one who encouraged me first to “write the damn book!” and read every dirty word! I would wake up to “suggestions” in my text box… “He should do this to her! Oooh….they should try that..have you ever tried that? No..me either! Let’s research!”
My mother and aunts and grandmothers used to swap romance novels when I was young. I remember watching them pass the books around; their favorites were Lavyrle Spencer and Kathleen Woodiwiss. I love a good love story; I’m a hopeless romantic at heart. I swear in a past life I lived on a windswept cliff and was in love with a brave knight!
How did you become interested in writing this genre?
I love the rawness and sometimes brutal truth of erotica. I love that one page can have an epic declaration of love with the deepest emotions, followed swiftly by a good hard FUCK with all the accompanying language that sets me off! I’m a lady with the mouth and imagination of a sailor…This is my jam!! {Raises my hands} Preach it sister!! Yes!
What is your writing style? Do you outline or just write it as it comes to you and let the story unfold as you write?
My writing style is evolving, even through this project I have grown. But in general I am a free writer. When I wrote Whisper I sat down and listened and just wrote. Scenes would pop in my mind and I sat down to write. I had a general direction but it didn’t become fully obvious to me until well into the second book.
How has becoming an author changed you?
Being an “author”… can I even call myself that?? It has forced me out of my comfort zone. I am a shy girl, introverted and content being alone. I thought…hey I’ll write this book and publish it and never have to talk to anyone! Damn was I wrong but I am so overjoyed and loving everyone that I have met. All the encouragers, my kick ass Naughty Nymphs, the readers, bloggers, friends, pervs and even the haters. I wouldn’t change a thing. And we love you!! {Blows your smacky kisses}
Where did the idea of your current book come from?
The idea for my current series, The Voice Trilogy was pure, lusty, longing for my Ultimate Man. But as I was writing it, so many other characters came out of the woodwork, so many more story lines; needless to say I have numerous books on the horizon.
Can your fangirl/boy find you anywhere this year?
You can catch me at the pool this summer! I will not be signing anywhere as I find it IMPOSSIBLE to believe that anyone would want to meet me or have my name scrolled across anything. I am still very much just a fan and reader! I would love to meet you WOMAN!
When you write do you listen to music? If so, what music was your muse for this story?
I listen to music or have the TV on, sometimes silence, it all depends on my mood and the scene, however music definitely inspires me. I can hear a song or even just a line and be off on a 3000 word journey. I have made public my writing playlist for Whisper and Speak on Spotify. Its long and random and moody...just like me ;) HEHE. You said it. {laughs} Seriously, I have never seen you moody!
How much research goes into your stories?
I do A LOT of research but I LOVE research! I am a details girl! There are a few story lines I have in mind BECAUSE of the research and subsequent learning that they promise.
Can you let us in on what your next project will be?
My next project…after I finish Shout which is the third and final installment in my trilogy will be whatever comes to mind! Before I started Whisper I was writing a pseudo historical fantasy of sorts that is almost complete. I really want to go back to that. I have also started a story about a badass chic that I liken to a human praying mantis. I’ve got a story brewing about an F1 racer as I LOVE fast cars and the men who drive them. I don’t know exactly where time will take me but I’ve got an arsenal of ideas to keep my busy and hopefully the readers coming back for more! OMG!!! YES!! I love Formula 1 racing! I am all in baby!!

LOVE this interview!!
ReplyDeleteI've read Whisper, and now that I will finally have free fun reading time, I need to jump into the rest of the series! Noelle rocks my socks xoxo
Where is the Noelle I met in 12/13 and what have you done with her?! This Noelle is feisty, and I like it!! Here's to many more stories with love, romance, and necessary 'research,' for the sake of 'research.' I still can't eat waffles without thinking about Sophie and Rhys, our matchmakers. They will always be a soft spot in my heart....and cheddar cheese. Can't forget the cheese! Cheers to many more laughs, tee-hee's, haaaaaaaaaaaa's, and what's?! Stalk on!
