Author Spotlight: The River Walk Collection Julie Jaret
I did not know Julie Jaret that well before the River Walk Collection. But after talking to her and reading her story HOSTAGE SITUATION, I have become a huge fan. She is such a sweet person and writes stories that you can get lost in. I can tell you that Hostage Situation is a fantastic read you do not want to miss out on. {Whipsers}
Julie writes smexy scene’s that will leave you fanning yourself too.
Let's see Julie's thoughts on the River Walk Collection.
1. What was your first thought when Al Daltrey approached you about the River Walk Collection?
Oh wow… BDSM?? I enjoy reading that stuff, but I’ve never written it. This will be a fun challenge!
2. Did you know the author’s involved with the River Walk Collection before the project?
Besides Al, I knew a few, but not very well.
3. How was it working with everyone on the project? You all seem like such a fun group.
It’s been great! It’s like a family where everyone’s really silly and perverted and supportive. And perverted.
4. Tell us a fun memory you will take with you after this project is complete.
Writing is such a solitary thing, so it’s been a fun new experience having so many other people involved with this project.
5. Can you give us a little tease of your story in the River Walk Collection?
You do not want to miss Julie's teaser below!! {Fans myself} This story is smokin'!
6. Will you continue your story after River Walk is complete?
Not sure… it’s a possibility, but I’ve got to finish the third book of my Perspectives series, first.
7. What was the hardest part of your story if there was one?
I’ve written lots of sex scenes, but nothing with true BDSM elements before —just a spank or light bondage. The greatest challenge for me was writing BDSM into my sex scenes and making it feel fresh and hot and original while maintaining my writer’s voice.
8. Is there anything you would like to tell your readers?
I hope you enjoy reading the story as much as I enjoyed writing it. And if you’re lucky enough to get some of this in real life, make sure to keep it safe, sane and consensual! ;)
Let's get to know Julie Jaret! She is such a great author to talk with. I cannot wait to get my hands on her books!
1. What was your inspiration that started your writing career?
I’d been a screenwriter for 10+ years, and had never been interested in writing books. Then a successful novelist friend (Stephanie Bond) read and loved a few sexy short stories I’d written for fun, and urged me to write a novel. (Thanks again, Steph! xo)
2. What book influenced you the most growing up?
A Wrinkle in Time is the book that made me a Reader, but Are you there, God, It’s Me, Margaret and Forever, both by Judy Blume were the greatest influences, I think.
3. Name someone other than a family who has been a huge supporter during your writing career.
Stephanie Bond, author, friend, mentor.
4. How did you become interested in writing this genre?
I’m a perv from way back! My screenplays all have a lot of sexy romance, too. Hell, the first produced movie I wrote, THE POOL BOYS, is a comedy about a studious, virginal guy who falls in love with an escort the summer before he leaves for Harvard.
5. What is one question you have always wanted to be asked during an interview but never have been.
“Julie, my BFF, Greg Nicotero asked if I knew any screenwriter-authors in Atlanta who should be writing for The Walking Dead. May I introduce you to him?”
6. What is your writing style? Do you outline or just write it as it comes to you and let the story unfold as you write?
I always outline. Having written movie scripts for so long, it became ingrained because screenplay structure is so strict. I’m more comfortable with detailed, beat by beat outlines, but I go back and rework them when my characters surprise me with new information. It’s important to me that my stories evolve organically; that my characters make logical choices based on realistic motivations. (Smut can be smart!)
7. How has becoming an author changed you?
I’ve met so many fantastic people — some who’ve become very close friends.
8. Where did the idea of your current book come from?
I’ll answer with regard to my most recent published title, OVER-EXPOSED (Perspectives 2). I remember very clearly the angst of my teen years, when I was in love with the boys in the posters on my walls. I was such a lonely outcast, it physically hurt to know I’d never get to meet them, let alone date them.
The premise of OVER-EXPOSED is that Natalie, our heroine, is forced to spend time with Sam Danmore, her old celebrity crush. As a teenager she’d kissed his posters on her walls, but now it’s fifteen years later and she hates him — with good reason. (I cannot wait to read this story! I have this baby in paperback!)
9. Can your fangirl/boy find you anywhere this year?
I’ll be at the Pay it Forward Writers’ Retreat the weekend of May 29th, but no other events are planned as of yet.
10. When you write do you listen to music?
I love music, but oddly enough, no. It’s easier to “be” in my story when I have quiet.
11. How much research goes into your stories?
I don’t write about things that require much research, but I like to get the details right. For example, before writing HOSTAGE SITUATION I spent a bunch of time looking at pictures of bank vaults, since I’d never been in one.
12. Can you let us in on what your next project will be?
I’m working on LONG SHOT, the third book of my Perspectives series (Gabby’s story, for those who’ve read OVER-EXPOSED!).
Coke or Pepsi - Coke (but really water)
Steak or Chicken - steak
Lace or Cotton - cotton
Black or White - white

“Lie down, Kate. On your back.” He pointed to a huge, round ottoman. She did as instructed, enjoying the look in his eyes as he watched. The leather cooled her heated skin. When she saw him pull out the handcuffs, her heart kicked into overdrive.
Tugging her arms over her head, Glen looped the short chain around the leg of the ottoman. He cuffed her other wrist to the first, so her back arched just enough to push out her breasts. His tongue slid over his bottom lip as he considered his next move.
She wanted that tongue. On her. In her. Her hips bucked toward him.
With a smirk, he put his hands on her inner thighs, skimming them higher until his fingertips were a hair’s breadth away from her desperately throbbing center. Dropping to his knees he pushed her thighs apart, exposing her smooth, pink wetness to his hungry gaze, and strapped each of her ankles to the ottoman legs.
She whimpered with need when he stood to admire his handiwork.
“This is it,” he murmured, slowly circling the ottoman. “The picture I had in my head. This is where you were and how you looked the first time I jerked off to thoughts of you.” He squeezed the prominent erection tenting his jeans.
“If you don’t touch me soon, I swear I’ll combust and burn down your pretty house.”
Glen grinned at that. “Where should I touch you? How about here?” He captured one tight nipple between his thumb and finger and pinched. Hard.
Her yelp of pain was accompanied by a flood of arousal — she felt it and he saw it.
“Hmm… Liked that, did you?” He gave her other nipple the same treatment. She tried to arch her back, but her bindings kept her exactly where Glen wanted her. “I got you something.”
“You didn’t have to—”
“Kate.” There was that hard edge again. It shut her up and made her pussy pound.
He opened a side-table drawer and produced a small, black satin bag. Dropping the contents into his palm, he showed her two delicate silver flowers with small clips on the back.
Her breath caught. “Thank you. They’re beautiful.”
“They’ll be more beautiful on you.”
The heat in his eyes made her shiver with anticipation. “Something tells me I won’t be wearing them in my hair…”
With an evil grin, he opened one of the flowers with a pinch. “Good guess.” Bracing his hands on the ottoman, he leaned down and teased a lazy trail all over her breasts with his tongue. He must have been trying to drive her insane, the way he licked the damp path closer and closer, narrowly avoiding the needy peaks. Her breath rushed out on a sob when he finally flicked them with his tongue.
He had hardly touched her yet, and already Kate’s clit was pulsing with need.
As her nipples responded to the blessed attention, Glen tugged each of them gently with his teeth and pressed them between his lips until they were exceptionally stiff and sensitive. With her eyes shut tight, she felt it acutely when the first pretty clamp bit down on her nipple. The second clamp came before she had caught her breath from the first.
She panted through the pain, but it was almost too much.
The wet heat of Glen’s tongue surprised her. She hadn’t realized the pretty flowers would leave the very tips of her nipples uncovered.
“The pain should ease up soon,” he said against her skin.
“I think it’s starting to, ‘cause that feels really good.” Her voice sounded dreamy, like she was drunk on arousal. Drunk on arousal. She wondered if that was something that actually happened, but the thought drifted away before she could articulate it.
Glen straightened and stared down at her, tongue sliding over his lower lip. “God damn, your tits look fucking spectacular in those. I wish you could see yourself right now.”
Kate’s skin was so sensitized, every cell responded to his gaze as he circled the ottoman. When he paused between her thighs, her clit twitched as if he had touched it. Another drop of arousal slid down her ass to join the growing puddle beneath her.
He growled and dropped to his knees, nibbling and sucking her inner thighs, letting only his breath touch her pounding center. Her clit swelled as if it were reaching for his mouth. She would have pushed it there herself, if he’d allowed her any mobility. When he backed away from the ottoman and stood up again, she could’ve wept.
“Oh my god, Glen, what are you doing to me?” she panted.
“Delayed gratification. It’ll be worth the wait, I promise.” His brow furrowed as he reached for his belt buckle. “And it’s not just you. I’m doing it to the both of us, darlin’.”

Julie Jaret is an American screenwriter with one feature film produced and some others on deck. Her alter-ego needed an outlet, so here we are.
Julie lives in the southeast U.S. with her sexy and supportive husband, two funny and beautiful kids, and one big doofus of a dog. She enjoys living vicariously through her fictional characters, often to the point of distraction... (Luckily, her hubby and kids know not to expect dinner at a certain time. Or at all.)
