Author Spotlight & Interview: The River Walk Collection - Rosemary Willhide
Before River Walk I knew who Rosemary Willhide was and that was it. I had spoken to her a few times at author takeovers or just in passing. I always thought she was super sweet.
Al had asked if I minded helping Rosemary with her teasers. Of course I said YES! Helping Rosemary create her teasers let me get to know her better. She was an absolute delight to work with. And her writing is absolutely amazing. I swear she either had me snorting or squirming. I cannot wait to read her other books! I know they will be amazing.
You are all in for a real treat with her and Al's story. I keep begging her to convert it into a full novel. It is so darn good!!
What was your first thought when Al Daltrey
approached you about the River Walk Collection?
My first
reaction, was, does he realize he’s talking to me? I remember the conversation
very clearly, because I was supposed to be writing my third book, but I was so
enthralled with the idea, I started googling The River Walk in San Antonio
right away.
Did you know the author’s involved with the
River Walk Collection before the project?
I had heard wonderful things about all the women, but didn’t
know them yet.
How was it working with everyone on the project?
You all seem like such a fun group.
It’s been lovely. There’s been a real sisterhood there, with
Al guiding the way. I hope it continues to bloom and grow. Oh! I would love to see more collaborations from you all.
Tell us a fun memory you will take with you
after this project is complete.
I remember we all confessed how nervous we were to send Al
the first bits of our stories. It was nice to know I wasn’t the only one. I was
so nervous…my boobs were sweating!
Can you give us a little tease of your story in
the River Walk Collection?
I gazed into his smoldering eyes filled
with fire. “What’s your ultimate fantasy? If you could do anything you want.
What would it be?”
The corners of his mouth up turned in that
roguish way of his. He released my arms and tore off my shorts in one smooth
move, leaving me naked from waist down. “You know what I want. I want my cock
buried in your ass balls deep.”
Oh, fuck me in the ass. What have I done?
I swallowed hard. “That’s it? You don’t have any other fantasies involving,
like produce or dairy products? You could tie me up and blindfold me. I think
I’d like that.”
He opened my legs and skimmed my sex with
his fingertips. “But that’s your fantasy. Which we can do another night.” Jason
slowly dipped a finger in and out of me. “Tonight is for me, and I’m going to
take your ass right after I take you across my knee and spank you.”
I expelled a shaky breath. “You want to
spank me?”
“Yes babe. And you want me to. You got
wetter the minute I said the word.” I loved this part of the book! This is a smokin' teaser.
Will you continue your story after River Walk is
complete?
I do have an idea floating in my head. What happens the next
day… YES! YES! YES! I need that bit of info!
What was the hardest part of your story if there
was one?
I don’t think there was anything difficult. But, I would say
that’s due to Al being a great leader.
Is there anything you would like to tell your
readers?
I would
like to encourage any readers who have thought about writing to do so. You
never know where it can lead. I’m not an English major and had no writing
experience other than writing sketch comedy. (I have a degree in Theatre.)
Whatever your passionate about, it’s never too late to try.
What was your inspiration that
started your writing career?
This may sound a little corny, but it
was E. L. James. I hadn’t granted myself the luxury of sitting down and reading
in a long time. I devoured her books three times and wanted to read other
authors in the genre. Then, I saw her on Katie Couric and she said “50 Shades”
was her fantasy, so if you want to write, write for yourself and do it because
you love it. The wheels started turning.
Name someone other than a family
who has been a huge supporter during your writing career.
It’s
hard to name just one person. But if I had to pick one it would be my friend
Sue Pappas. From the very beginning, she encouraged me, read raw early
chapters, consoled me when I got rejection letters from agents, and is always
honest. We teach fitness classes together. I’ve known her over eight years. I trust
her beyond measure.
I
would be remiss if I didn’t mention what a support Al has been. He’s actually
very supportive of all of his fellow authors. A class act all the way.
How did you become interested in
writing this genre?
Well, the simple answer is I like
sex…a lot! I like to talk about it, I like to write it, and I like to have…a
lot. I love sex! LOL! {gets all excited} I knew I liked you!
What is your writing style? Do
you outline or just write it as it comes to you and let the story unfold as you
write?
I had never used an outline before I
worked with Al. The story for my series was so clear in my head. Moving
forward, I think I would always use a brief outline, but not be too married to
it. The characters sometimes have different ideas.
How has becoming an author
changed you?
I think becoming an author has made me more
outgoing in terms of the readers and friends on Facebook. There’s a common bond
of reading naughty books, so there’s no judgement. There’s a group called Hot
BRR. They are brilliant, funny ladies who enjoy a dirty joke. It’s like, “Where
have been all my life?” In real life, my mouth is always getting me into
trouble.
Where did the idea of your
current book come from?
The Swept Series was born out of mad lust for
Alexander Skarsgard on True Blood. During season 4 I started having a dream
that he showed up at the spin class I teach at Country Club. When I had the
dream again season 5, the next day is when I saw E L James on Katie Couric.
Even though I’d never written a book before, I decided why not have a Derek
Pierce, Hollywood heartthrob with an ass that just won’t quit, show up for a
spin class with Nia Kelly, a fitness instructor with a dirty little mouth and
secret past. The rest of their story evolved from there. But one thing of note.
When I dreamed about Alexander coming to my spin class, I didn’t have on any
pants. For some reason in my dreams, I never have on pants.
When you write do you listen to music? If so,
what music was your muse for this story?
No. But I’m Sometimes when I’m teaching one of
my fitness classes a lyric in a song will inspire something naughty.
How much research goes into your stories?
For the
Swept Away series I didn’t need to research much. I am fitness instructor like
Nia and I live in Vegas. I tried to write what I know. Although sometimes
sexual research is great fun! LOL! For my story in River Walk I did go on line
to look at pictures, and spent sometime chatting with a lovely woman in the
special events department at the Hyatt. And in terms of the BDSM content, I
have a lovely teacher/friend who has taught me so much. His name just happens
to be Andrew. I don’t think I could have written this story without him.
Can you let us in on what your next project will
be?
If the
readers want more of Sylvie’s story, I might do that. And fans of Nia and Derek
can look forward to Derek’s Christmas Carol at the Holidays.
Coke or Pepsi – Neither. I’m like Jesus – Water and wine (With the
exception of coffee and juice in the morning that my husband brings on a tray…yes
I’m spoiled.) I am totally jealous!
Steak or Chicken – Neither. We mostly do seafood. But I am
addicted to cheese.
Lace or Cotton - Cotton, or
nothing at all. {Smirks} Now we are getting somewhere! LOL.
Black or White - Black. I
almost always wear black.
Morning or Evening – Morning. I love waking up to my husband
bringing me the tray because he kisses my cheek and says, “How did my angel
sleep.” (Did I mention I’m spoiled?) Did I mention I was jealous!?
Chicken or Egg - Neither
Rope or Whip – I’ve not tried either of those, but would love to.
Flogger, crop, leather paddle!!!! Whoohoo! I love it!
Fast or Slow – YES!!!!!
Rosemary grew up in Pennsylvania, one of six children. Her
parents, Charles and Dorothy, always supported all her creative
endeavors, from acting to singing to Erotic Novelist. Yes, they are
super cool.
She's been living in Las Vegas for over eighteen years with her husband Bill Johnson and their rescued pooch Harley.
In
addition to writing she also teaches ten fitness classes a week. Her
limited spare time is usually spent at home with her hubby enjoying a
home cooked, healthy meal and all things HBO and Netflix. When she
ventures out to a restaurant she normally splurges on her favorite dish,
Mac and Cheese. It's just like Nia says in, Running Away to Home,
"Sometimes it's good to be bad!"
