Author Spotlight & Interview: The River Walk Collection - Gina Whitney

by - 3:00 AM

Next up we have Gina Whitney, I met her a few months ago when she was prepping for the release of Luca. She was so much fun to talk with.  I loved her Dark Erotica and new she and Al Daltrey would make a power team.  If you have not met Gina you need to follow her.  Her books are amazing and her Facebook posts keep me snorting.

If you have not started the River Walk Collection yet, you need to. Gina Whitney and Al Daltrey bring it in Power of a Woman. The darker tell is absolutely smoking! The lead is an absolute badass.

I loved learning about River Walk from Gina Whitney.

What was your first thought when Al Daltrey approached you about the River Walk Collection?

Yes, yes, and yes! He will tell you that too. Then, I thought 'God bless his little heart' as I have some issues with boundaries or in this case outlines. My mind naturally goes to the least expected places. Then again it makes for some fantastic writing. Long story short....I'm a free-wheeling writer.  {Snickers} I bet that was hard for Al to adjust to. You little rebel!

Did you know the author’s involved with the River Walk Collection before the project?

 Yes, some Al, Tiffany, Noelle and Ali (from similar sexy groups) However, I didn't know they wrote. mmm. Gotta love those sexy groups! And look what happened.  All you sexy people in one book! {Fans myself}

How was it working with everyone on the project? You all seem like such a fun group.

I thought it was unique and inventive. I've mostly worked with other authors in mutual boxed-sets/anthologies. Which as you know is just handing over a file and promo collaboration.

Tell us a fun memory you will take with you after this project is complete.

The fact that everyone's almost as disturbed as I am. I love commas and Al doesn't. So, I may or may not have put a few extra...lol. Oh, and we formed the #wolfpack(Lena) {Dies Laughing} Are you trying to drive Al bonkers! Oh how I love all you disturbed and twisted people.  You are the ones that keep me going.  I love reading new and original stories.

Will you continue your story after River Walk is complete?

Yes, and that's why very early on I needed to build it differently. I have already written to the halfway point. {Does a happy dance} I cannot wait for more Jordana and Stefan. Those two are badasses!

What was the hardest part of your story if there was one?

 I'd have to go with the sadist part. Which, I let Al handle. {Eyes Al} I had no idea Mr. Daltrey. {smirks}

Is there anything you would like to tell your readers?

I'm blessed to have such wonderful readers and a great fan base. Thankful is what I am:)

Here are a few questions for your readers to get to know each of you.

Aren't these teasers smokin'!! I love them all.

Here are a few questions to let us into the word of Gina Whitney!

What was your inspiration that started your writing career?

A few years ago after my divorce, something changed for me. I love to read, and have a vivid imagination. Also, when I set my mind to something, there's no stopping me. I like to do different things. Especially, if it's out of the norm.

So, during the whole Twilight mania, I decided to go for it. My first book was an adult paranormal romance about ancient witches and the sprints that dwell within. Boy was that fun! I created a new genre~ vampiric witches (lol) Are you surprised? {Hugs the hell out of you} You are an evil genius! I need these twifics! {gives you puppy eyes} Please.  I do not read fanfic much anymore but I need these stories!

What book influenced you the most growing up?

I'm a big Anne Rice, Emily Bronte, Jane Austen, J. R. R Tolkien to name a few.

Name someone other than a family who has been a huge supporter during your writing career.

All my girlfriends have been very supportive.

How did you become interested in writing this genre?

I've always liked romance. While I started with PNR. There was a heavy erotic undertone. So, the progression was a natural one. I find something sexual in everything. Like, if someone was eating a juicy peach. I'd have to walk away;)

What is one question you have always wanted to be asked during an interview but never have been?

You know what? I've been asked everything. Even if I masturbate before or during writing or what I'm wearing during my time in the cave! (LOL)

I will say that twizzlers and pistachio ice-cream play a big role when I write. Along with red bull and alcohol ;)

What is your writing style? Do you outline or just write it as it comes to you and let the story unfold as you write?

I usually start with some kind of darkish philosophical quote. It unfolds from there. I haven't ever written an outline, as I'd never stick to it. I truly free style my way through. I for one love the quotes. It lets me settle into the mood of the story.

How has becoming an author changed you?

It's a lot of work. I'm tied into this 24 hours a day. Most people don't realize the stress that comes with this job. I've written a book in two weeks. Ask me if I left my house, eaten or come out of my sweats. I don't want to put anyone off, but it is the truth. To stay relevant you have to continue to publish. I can tell.  You are always writing and planning. I do not see how you do it.  It truly amazes me.

Where did the idea of your current book come from?

The book I'm working on now is Avenging Us. It is Abel's third book.

Then, I will write novellas for the band boys. I always write from life experience. While the names may change...the events are very mine as well as the characters. It's cathartic for me. Honesty has a way of pulling you in. Life events shape who you are. The words behind them will leave an undeniable mark on the reader. Could not agree more Gina.

Can your fangirl/boy find you anywhere this year?

Yes, I am at quite a few events this year. My full schedule will be posted on my Amazon author page.  {Hold up my finger to pause our convo} Hold on.  I need to go stalk your schedule.  I will cry if you are not headed towards Oklahoma.

When you write do you listen to music? If so, what music was your muse for this story?

Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle, 30 Seconds to Mars, Stained, Muse, SixxAM, Audioslave, and Incubus to name a few. I'm lean alternative.  I knew I loved you! This is my kind of music!

How much research goes into your stories?

Some, but not a lot. I will research countries the band is in, along with stadiums, restaurants, and hotels.
Can you let us in on what your next project will be?

After Abel I need to get back to 'I love the way you lie'(Luca) book two. It will be Ollie's book.  {Bounces with Excitement} I cannot wait for this book!
