Author Spotlight & Interview: The River Walk Collection - Lena Black

by - 2:00 AM

Lena Black is another author that I did not know much about before the River Walk Collection. I must say, I adore her. She is spunky and full of life.  She cares very much for her fellow authors and always had supportive words to say. I cannot wait to dive into more of Lena's work!

Make sure you follow Lena on Facebook. She has 3 books dropping with in a few months. Her link is at the bottom of the post.

What was your first thought when Al Daltrey approached you about the River Walk Collection?
I didn’t think he knew who I was! LOL
Did you know the author’s involved with the River Walk Collection before the project?
Not all. I knew Jen from my books. She’s my stalker ;). Others I knew from around the community. But I’ve made some amazing new friends, which is probably the best part of the whole experience.
How was it working with everyone on the project? You all seem like such a fun group.
It’s been a blast! A lot of joking and being general dorks. This is a fantabulous group of ladies. I feel lucky to call them my friends.
Tell us a fun memory you will take with you after this project is complete.
#Wolfpack…Gina knows what I’m talking about!
Can you give us a little tease of your story in the River Walk Collection?
Spanked is about a young woman, Mila Petrov, who’s struggling to pay her school loans when she comes across a study for pain through a local university. That’s when she meets Dr. Oliver Landon and let’s just say the kinkiness ensues! The title is pretty self-explanatory. ;) The title fits this story beautifully!

Will you continue your story after River Walk is complete?
I have considered it. I really love the characters and enjoined writing it immensely. I guess we’ll see if my readers want more! {waves like a manic} This fan does! Please!
What was the hardest part of your story if there was one?
This story flowed out really well actually. There was little complication with this one, which is a nice change.
Is there anything you would like to tell your readers?
That I couldn’t do what I do without them. Their love and support pull me through when the road seems rocky. And that’s priceless to me. Thank you, Ladies in Black!

Here are some questions to help us get to know Lena Black better!
I’ve always had that creative itch to pen a novel. But it wasn’t until I read a particular series that inspiration struck. And the rest as they say is history.
What book influenced you the most growing up?
I was a huge reader, even as a kid. I don’t know if I can say any one in particular inspired me. Dr. Suess was pretty badass though! I totally agree with you on that!
Name someone other than a family who has been a huge supporter during your writing career.
My two biggest supporters, besides my parents, are my man and Julie Cameron, my bestie and PA. We’re #rideordie
How did you become interested in writing this genre?
I love Romances. Love is a part of life. The best part in my opinion. But, as far as the BDSM sub-genre, I found that so many books out there today don’t portray the lifestyle correctly, and as a member of this fascinating world, I felt like I could help show readers what BDSM truly means.
What is one question you have always wanted to be asked during an interview but never have been.
Hmmm. I’d have to say none…My readers are pretty thorough in their interrogations. LOL
What is your writing style? Do you outline or just write it as it comes to you and let the story unfold as you write?
I will have a general idea of what I want to write, lead character’s, what makes them tick, and what do I want to come across emotionally, but I will just let it flow out after that. I’ll get a scene idea and jot it down, but I prefer to write organically, be surprised by the story that unfolds.
How has becoming an author changed you?
I wouldn’t say it’s changed me. It’s certainly surreal and has changed my life for the better, but I’m still the same shy, goofy girl (who blushes every time I get a compliment) I’ve always been.
Where did the idea of your current book come from?
My current work, Metal & Lace, came from a few places. I knew I wanted to write a rocker book, but it wasn’t until I saw Billy Huxley (YUMMY!) that Gunnar Haze and the story came to be. Yummy muse! {purrs}
Can your fangirl/boy find you anywhere this year?
I’m still not sure what the year holds, but I’ve been considering crashing some author signings, get a feel for the energy and whatnot. So, who knows!
When you write do you listen to music? If so, what music was your muse for this story?
ALL THE TIME! Music is such a huge part of my writing process; I add most of the music that inspires me into my books. I listen to a variety of artists; my music collection is off the charts massive and awesomely eclectic. Taylor Swift’s Style and my muse, Lana Del Rey’s West Coast, Shades of Cool, Guns and Roses, pretty much anything off her Ultraviolence album, have really inspired my current work, Metal & Lace. But I honestly listen to Queen Lana no matter what I’m writing. She’s my go to.
How much research goes into your stories?
I research until my eyes blur and my fingers hurt. It’s the difference between getting it right or totally wrong. Especially when writing about real places that people are familiar with. For example, in my current book, Metal & Lace, I’ve been researching the infamous Chateau Marmont, from what each room looks like, to the layout, to the history, all the way down to what the tables on the outdoor patio are made from. Research is key for an author. I love authors that give me tons of detail of locations.
Can you let us in on what your next project will be?
I have a few things in the works. A Dominant Salvation, which is the last in A Dominant Series, an anthology, other than River Walk, and Metal & Lace set out to release next month (June). It’s about a metal god, Gunnar Haze, who has found his fast-paced life anything but thrilling. That’s when he meets Lacey ‘Lace’ Cummings, a music critic with a broken heart and an eye for bad boys. Let’s just say, opposites attract and collide! WOW! You are one busy woman! I cannot wait to read Metal & Lace.

Coke or Pepsi - Pepsi
Steak or Chicken - Steak
Lace or Cotton – Lace (Of course!)
Black or White – Black (DUH! Lol) HEHE.
Morning or Evening – Evening
Chicken or Egg - Chicken
Rope or Whip - Rope
Fast or Slow – Depends on the mood
