Author Spotlight & Interview : The River Walk Collection - Ali Reynolds

by - 3:00 AM

I've known Ali Reynolds for sometime now. She always makes me smile and laugh. She has a heart of gold. If you have not met Ali you need to!

When I found out Ali was one of the authors on the River Walk Collection, Iwas absolutely thrilled. You all are in for a treat. Ali and Al's story is very realistic.  And that ending... All I can say is, I pray Ali continues it! This girl needs more.

1.      What was your first thought when Al Daltrey approached you about the River Walk Collection?

Why did he want me?  Although I had written a short story for his blog and other short blurbs; I had never written a book before.
2.      Did you know the author’s involved with the River Walk Collection before the project?

I knew Tiffany and Jen, but not the other authors. I had read several of their books and I was familiar with their names.
3.   How was it working with everyone on the project? You all seem like such a fun group.

Fucking Fantastic!  It’s so nice to work with people who have the same twisted, pervy mind as you do.  It makes for great conversations that always turn to sex! <-- Best convos turn to sex!
4.      Tell us a fun memory you will take with you after this project is complete.

When everyone was finishing their stories, they would talk about how they needed a drink or how nervous they were to turn it into Al.  And I’m thinking, these are established, bestselling authors and they feel the same way I do!  I did offer Ativan for those who needed it, lol! {laughs} I do not blame you all. I would be the same way!
5.      Can you give us a little tease of your story in the River Walk Collection?

The cream goes on my clit?  That’s strange, but I have no problem with it.  I know this is a punishment, but so far, it doesn’t seem like it will be too bad.  (Poor girl has no idea!) You can say that again! That poor girl will be needing a serious release!
6.      Will you continue your story after River Walk is complete?

I would love to.  I ended it in a way that it can continue, but it depends on how well it is received and if there is an interest. I would love for you too! That ending is... Damn! I just need more!
7.      What was the hardest part of your story if there was one?

Honestly, it was trying to tone it down.  I tend to write “darker” and Al told me upfront what I was allowed to write about (such a party pooper!). Just kidding!  I did sneak in a little darkness in there so it’s not a totally fluffy bunny story.
8.   Is there anything you would like to tell your readers?

I just want to say “thank you” for all of the support and encouragement that I’ve been given.  There were days when I totally doubted myself and then someone would read a snippet and tell me how much they liked it.  Although they may not have realized it, but it would put me back in a good frame of mind and I would continue with the story.

Does Ali know how to make us squirm with these teasers or what!!! It is getting hot in here!

I always love getting to know the author's I spotlight with some more personal questions. Ali was such a great sport!
1.      What was your inspiration that started your writing career?

I tend to write about real life and what I know, so there is a part of the real me in everything I write.  So as I met people online that were in the BDSM community or who were interested in BDSM or who were just interested in talking about sex; I would share my own thoughts and experiences and it grew from there.
2.      What book influenced you the most growing up?

I don’t have a specific book.  My mother read to me when I was little.  I loved library day at school and getting to pick a new book out to read.  I loved going to the bookstore and buying new books.  But it was never a particular genre.  I have ADHD and it had to be something that would hold my attention.  So I’ve pretty much read everything from murder mysteries to The Secret Garden.
3.      Name someone other than a family who has been a huge supporter during your writing career.

It has to be Al.  We have been friends for quite a while and I would send him bits and pieces and he would say “Why am I writing a book? You need to be writing a book”.  He stayed after me to write something for his blog and then to start writing my own novel.  He has given me deadlines and has never stopped encouraging me.  Thanks Al! <3 {Smiles} Al is the best!
4.      How did you become interested in writing this genre?

Like I said before, I write about what I know and I live in the BDSM lifestyle. (shhhhh, don’t tell my family, lol)  So it was an easy choice for me to start there.
5.      What is one question you have always wanted to be asked during an interview but never have been.

Well, I’ve never been interviewed before and I’m pretty much an open book so……   “Will your family know about this book and be allowed to read it?” would be a great question. I love this Ali! I will add it to my list of questions. I will now message you for this answer. HEHE
6.      What is your writing style? Do you outline or just write it as it comes to you and let the story unfold as you write?

I use an outline.  It makes it so much easier to have a guideline to follow.  If you get stuck on one part, look at your outline and write about another part.  You don’t have to sit down and write straight through.  You can write in bits and pieces and then pull it all together.
7.      How has becoming an author changed you?

It’s allowed me to get all of my inner thoughts out.  It’s almost like therapy for me to take what I know and to see how creative I can be.  It’s a challenge and it keeps my mind more focused.
8.      Where did the idea of your current book come from?

Let’s just say a good friend of mine has been through this experience and it inspired me.  Though not all of it is real life of course. {Gasps} Oh. My. Heavens. Bless her heart. I think many women get sucked into this situation. Your story is very realistic.
9.      Can your fangirl/boy find you anywhere this year?

At my house in the backassward state of NC, lol  (No offense to NC, but I live here so I can say it with honesty.)
10.  When you write do you listen to music? If so, what music was your muse for this story?

I do.  As per my video for the book, Maxi Priest’s Close to You fits my story perfectly.
11.  How much research goes into your stories?

A lot.  If I’m not familiar with something, I will definitely look it up.  In the book, she has to use a certain crème.  Since I have never used it on myself, I did research it to see what it’s made of, how it works and how it affects your body.  I’m sure the FBI would love my search history, hehe OHHHH! Let us hope they never search our computers.
12.  Can you let us in on what your next project will be?

It depends on how well this one does.  I do have two other books in the works, but if this one does well, I would love to continue with it since I’m still living in Lia’s world. {Squeals like a fangirl} YESSSSS! Oh. Please doooo! That ending... Oh. My. Goodness! I need more!
Coke or Pepsi:  Coke of course!
Steak or Chicken:   Chicken!
Lace or Cotton:   Lace!
Black or White:   Gray! (You little rebel you!)
Morning or Evening: Evening!
Chicken or Egg:   Egg!
Rope or Whip:   Both! (My kind of girl!)
Fast or Slow:   Both!

I am a mom first and foremost of two wonderful children. Although I don't see them often, I normally talk to them both everyday. I live in NC with my mom and what used to be my dog, but is now her dog. I like to say that I take care of her, but I think we take care of each other. In the real world, I am a RN, but am taking a hiatus trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. Hopefully it will be an Author full time. I have always been a people person and love to talk; so feel free to contact me to talk about anything from Supernatural to music to books or whatever interests you. I'm looking forward to this experience and all that it entails. Ali
