No moonlight filtered through the flimsy fabric covering the window. The moon hid behind a thick cloud cover. She tugged at the curtains, pulling them tighter to keep out the night. Before she stepped away, she caught a glimpse of something not quite right. Peeking between the curtain panels, she stared across the backyard. On the other side of the grimy window, a dim light flitted back and forth inside the detached garage.

Mysterious! Fun! And full of surprises is how I would describe this story. You better strap on your seatbelt and prepare for a fun and mysterious rollercoaster ride. This book will suck you in and keep you engaged the entire time.

Author Denise Moncrief kept us on our toes from the moment this book started. I was holding my breath the opening chapter right along with Laurel. I absolutely loved all of the twists and turns that filled this book. Some cause me to go wide-eyed when I linked things together.

The entire book I was trying to figure out what all was haunting Laurel Standridge. The house completely had me paranoid for her as I read. I wanted to tell her to stay put or to run more than once. It was as if I was right there beside her as the story unfolded.

Laurel is such a stubborn woman in this book. I was shaking my head at her more than once. And her chemistry with Chase was great. These two characters both brought excitement and mystery to the table.

The sexy and mysterious Chase Peterson entered the picture and I could not decide for over half the book if I loved him or hated him. Guess what?! I absolutely loved this man. He kept the story flowing as it all unfolded around Laurel.

I won’t give too much away. But I will say the ending to this book was absolutely fantastic. Denise Moncrief did such a fantastic job bringing it all to a head!

I cannot wait to start book two tonight!

Besides writing romantic suspense, she enjoys traveling, reading, and scrapbooking.

Accounting is a skill she has learned to earn a little money to support her writing habit. She wrote her first story when she was a teen, seventeen handwritten pages on school-ruled paper and an obvious rip-off of the last romance novel she had read. She's been writing off and on ever since, and with more than a few full-length manuscripts already completed, she has no desire to slow down.
