4 out of 5 stars
Sebastian was dumped by his fiancee while on duty with the Army in Afghanistan. I mean, really, who does that? Ava, that’s who, and Sebastian has a major hang up with her. He loves her, but wants to hate her. The only reason he even is around her is because they have a daughter together -- Lily-Mai -- and he is committed to being in Lily-Mai’s life.
Sebastian has a such a hang up with his ex-fiancee, Ava that he ends up in drug rehab where he meets his new therapist, Addison. On the day that Sebastian is released from the rehab facility, Addison gives him her personal cell phone number in case he ever needs help once he’s outside again. This is definitely a very important part of the story.
I felt for Sebastian from the first page. I hated Ava from the first page. Addison was neutral for awhile, but I grew to love her as the novel went on. I admire both Sebastian and Addison for working through their addictions and realizing how good life could be. As Sebastian and his sister, Grace, are driving away from the rehab facility, Sebastian sets Grace straight about how he feels about love now:
“Real life doesn’t happen that way. Fictional characters get to live happily ever after, but in real life your happily ever after is short lived by a series of disappointments and betrayals. I’m the very proof of that.”
Addison saves Sebastian from a major setback with his drug addiction and they start a friendship that is tough to beat. Of course, they have problems along the way and life isn’t super easy for them, but they survive. Sebastian changes his mind about the world around him and the way he’ll participate in it because of Addison:
She’s giving me my life back in ways I never knew was possible.
This story has a great storyline that will take the reader on an emotional journey, but it’s definitely worth the read and I recommend it to anyone looking for a solid read.

About The Author
Receptionist by day, author by night, Elena Matthews is from Manchester, United Kingdom, the home of Manchester United, Media city and of course, Coronation Street. When Elena isn’t writing, she can be found with her nose in a book or watching guilty pleasures such as Gossip Girl, developing a rather unusual liking to Chuck Bass. And when she isn’t doing any of those things, you can often find her on Facebook, obsessing over Kellan Kyle, book boyfriend extraordinaire
Elena spent three years of her life at Salford University studying media production, to decide she no longer wanted to pursue a career in the media. Instead, it took her another two and half years to realise her calling. Writing. Now she lives and breathes her writing. She even had to tell her colleagues at work whenever she is found daydreaming at her desk, it’s because she is conversing with her characters.
