This book hooked me from the beginning and didn’t let me go -- even when I was done with the epilogue. I need more Lukas!! This quote from Ivy to Lukas totally sums up him and this entire book for me:
“You are an amazing person,” I tell him. “Being with you is like reading a book that I can’t put down, and every page gets better and better.”
I know that some would say that the love story is too unbelievable because she is just coming from a divorce after being married for 18 years. She is 12 years older than him. She’s a clean-cut business woman and he’s a tattoo artist and musician. There are so many reasons that this relationship shouldn’t work, but his constant determination to get her to look past the age thing and her complete understanding of him as a person on the inside instead of what others see of him on the outside makes this story work so well!
I love how Lukas really loves Ivy with his whole heart and how he tries so hard to get her to see herself as more than a divorced mom in her 30s. He always says just the right things and his nickname for her (Doll) makes me swoon every time he says it!
“You have a warped perception of yourself, and you’re stuck on numbers. We get along great, and we want the same things . . . our ages aren’t going to change that. Let it go. I’ve gone slow with you like you asked, but at this rate, I’ll be old and gray myself before you finally just accept our age difference.”
This is the first book I’ve read in this series, but I am confident that it won’t be the last. Ms. Cole has a great gift of putting the reader in the minds of the characters and making us feel everything they’re feeling. I know that I felt a strong connection with both Ivy and Lukas and I really, really wish their story would continue -- I want to see their happily ever after in full detail!
