I began riding with my first MC after 20 years of riding alone. Although I didn’t know it at the time, immediately following my introduction to the club, I became the target of an ATF investigation.
The investigation ended when a helicopter, over 30 ATF agents, US Marshalls, and countless other SWAT Team members converged on me one day.
I was indicted on more than two dozen criminal counts, and given the option to plead guilty to one and receive a light sentence (probation). If I fought them, they explained, I would face life in prison.
Well, I’ve never been one to give up easy, so I chose to fight.
And I fought all the way to the US Supreme Court.
The fact I lost my case didn’t really matter to me. Fighting was more important. Standing up when most citizens would sit down had always been my nature.
My time in prison wasn’t easy, but I made it the best I was able. The days drug on forever, at least initially. In time, my mind made sense of it all, and digested it as being a new way of life; my only choice, so to speak.
In EX-CON, Jack’s thoughts, feelings, decisions, and actions were mine. What he felt, thought, and went through in the book is accurate down to the smallest of details.
My experiences in life cause my books to have more ‘feel’ than a conventionally written novel. EX-CON is no exception. It’s gritty, real, and raw as are most of my novels. But one thing it has that no other Scott Hildreth novel shares.

SYNOPSIS
People break promises. It happens every day.
Jack Shephard is tall, muscular, covered in tattoos, and rides in an Outlaw Motorcycle Club. Most people wouldn’t believe a word he said based on his appearance alone.
But they don’t know Jack like I know Jack, and Jack made me a promise.
There’s one small problem. Jack’s been arrested on a murder charge he didn’t commit, and he’s facing life in prison.
But he promised me he’d always come home.
And Jack doesn’t break promises.
EX-CON is a stand-alone, no cheating, no sex outside the relationship, HEA story of love, loss, second chances, and living life outside of the boundaries most citizens live in. Very few books leave me with a book hangover! {Glares at Scott} I need more dag nab it!
Man oh man! I devoured this book. Author Scott Hildreth captured my full attention with that very first line when Emily is describing her desires. It was raw, original and let you know that as a reader this story was going to be fantastic.
Scott didn’t let up there either, the entire story was original, realistic, and made the reader feel as if they were part of the story walking alongside the characters. You could tell Scott wanted his story believable. Not just, throw in a few realistic features and call it good.
From the moment Emily Stewart met Jackson Shepard she knew he was something different. She wanted Jackson from the very start. Jackson had saved her and protected her without even knowing who she was and that meant something to her. All Emily had to do was get Jackson to realize she was the girl for him.
Emily always knew that something was missing in her life. She knew that somewhere out there was someone that would make her feel complete. And that someone was Jackson. Jackson gave Emily the love and support she never had before. He always pushed her to be more for herself not him. With Jackson’s love, Emily blossomed into a strong woman who captured her life and lived it. Emily loved Jackson with every fiber of her soul. She would never give up on him or their love.
“I came, I saw, I conquered,” he responded.
I must say, watching how Jackson treated Emily made my heart swell. Here was this massive man with the nickname “Killer” that treated Emily like a princess. The respect and love Jackson showed Emily had me swooning. Jackson wanted Emily but he also wanted to know if she could handle his BDSM life style. One of my favorite moments is when they are having the talk and he realizes she took the time to study the lifestyle enough to know what she was and was not willing to try. Emily let Jackson know she was willing to try for him. It was in her nature and she just never realized it before.
“You’re mine,” he breathed.
The moment I waited for was upon me. I had considered all of the possibilities of when and where it might happen, and rehearsed what I would say and do when the time arrived that he realized we were going to take the next step. At that moment, as I gazed into his eyes, my mind was blank and I was an emotional disaster. Incapable of speaking, I swallowed heavily and simply nodded my head. “Mine,” he repeated as his finger tapped lightly against my cheek. ß{sighs}
And let me tell you, those scene’s will have your Kindle steaming up or your pages smokin’! All I am gonna say is JACKSON knows how to get his girl to purr. Oh! And HELLLLO ice cubes!!! {fans myself tries to move on from the kitchen scene}
Okay, now that I got you all worked up over a delicious kitchen scene, let us talk about the meat of this story. Hehe. I said meat. Yes, my mind is completely controlled by a 15 yo. Boy 90% of the time.
Jackson Shepard would do anything for his MC. The Hell’s Fury Motor Cycle club is his life and always would be. That is until one night goes wrong and he ends up doing a dime for something he should never be convicted for. My heart broke for Jackson as I read the chapters of him going through the trial and then of him locked up. Jackson turns into “Big Jack” during this part of the book and realizes everything he thought he knew he really did not.
The last part of this book had me flipping the pages swooning, and rooting for Jack. He reclaimed who he was, what he stood for, and let everyone know that he was a better man. He found an MC that took him in treated him with respect, and showed him what a true family was and that they supported him no matter what he decided in life.
The ending of this story was just perfect… Well except that it ended. I was not ready to give Emily and Jackson up just yet.
