Review::: Heartbreaker by Cole Saint Jaimes
Title: Heart Breaker
Author: Cole Saint Jaimes
Release Day: August 18, 2015
4 ½ out of 5 Hearts
Let me just start with the fact that the prologue of this book is as hot as anything I’ve read in recent days. Seriously, Mr Jaimes really turned up the heat and kickstarted this book in an amazing way!
When a story starts with lines like this, you know it’s going to make you keep reading:
When we fuck, it’s like the entire world’s on fire, and we’re just letting it burn, oblivious of the fact that the fire’s consuming us, turning us to ash.
Essie & Aidan are two people who aren’t exactly in the same realm of the universe.
Essie Floyd has fought hard for everything she’s ever had in life. Her brother is her only family and they scrape by with him working two jobs as well as her working full time. Nothing about their life has been easy.
Aidan on the other hand comes from the Callahan family which means he never wanted for anything. As one of the wealthiest families in Chicago, the Callahans have everything they want - not just what they need. However, Aidan did leave all of that behind and settle in Hawaii on his own terms. He does surfing lessons for money and otherwise just enjoys the peaceful life the beach has to offer:
The four-mile stretch of beach in front of my apartment is my church, the early morning weather forecast my gospel. When I’m on my board, underneath a swell, cruising, the crest of the way arcing around me, I’m truly in my own personal heaven.
Even with all of these differences, circumstances pull Essie and Aidan together and their connection is crazy.
Without giving away too much plot, I would just like to say that Mr. Jaimes really knocked it out of the park with this debut novel and I really can’t wait to read the follow up. He had just enough humor to keep me smiling. The sexual tension was hot. The characters were so much deeper than others I’ve read. I congratulate him on a wonderful book and look forward to seeing much, much more from him!
