Release Day Blitz and Review::: Worth the Risk by Claudia Connor
Title: Worth the Risk
Series: The McKinney Brothers #2
Author: Claudia Connor
Publisher: Loveswept
Release Date: February 3, 2015
Synopsis
New York Times bestselling author Claudia Connor follows up her heartfelt debut, Worth the Fall, with a novel about Matt’s brother, Stephen—and when a McKinney brother falls in love, powerful emotion and overwhelming desire are never far behind.
Two hearts locked away . . . Hannah Walker spends her days coaching children through injury and trauma, one therapeutic horseback ride at a time. She knows all too well how violence can change a child and leave scars that never heal. It’s easy for her to relate to the kids; what isn’t easy is the thought of facing her own harrowing past.
Millionaire playboy Stephen McKinney could use a little coaching himself. Five years ago he encountered his most horrible nightmare—and the nightmare won. No matter what he achieves, nothing can make up for that awful night . . . or so he believes.
Both desperate for a second chance . . . Stephen is used to getting what he wants. And he wants Hannah. So when she turns him down, he’s intrigued. What he doesn’t know is that her secrets will lead him to a place he never wanted to go again . . . to a side of himself he’s tried to forget . . . a side that would scare Hannah away from ever loving him. Now his only chance to win her trust is to bare his soul, risking everything he tried so hard to protect.
I loved Matt McKinney’s story in Worth the Fall and Ms. Conner definitely didn’t disappoint with Stephen’s story in Worth the Risk.
Stephen has been seriously hurt with love in the past. Hannah has never known love. What they find together is what great romance stories are made of!!
I love the dual points of view in the book so that as Hannah is sharing as much as she can with Stephen, we can get a better grasp about what she isn’t saying and why. And the same goes for Stephen.
They both have pasts they don’t want to share, but they both make each others futures something neither dreamed they would ever have. I think Ms Conner does a great job of limiting the drama to only when necessary while still moving the story along.
I immediately connected with both of these characters despite the fact that our pasts have nothing in common. I felt like they were real people who I wanted to get to know more about...and in the end, people I can’t wait to hear more about in future McKinney Borthers books (I hope).
I loved the way Hannah had found something that not only used her life experience but also her college degree and training. I love how Stephen found that his life wasn’t just at work and really went all in with Hannah’s project.
Really, if you’re looking for a great love story that doesn’t make you want to throw your Kindle (more than a couple of times anyway), I totally recommend this story!!
