SYNOPSIS: First, he saved me. I lived because he was a hero. And then he was gone. Uprooted by the fire that destroyed our home, my family moved away and I never saw David Andrews again. Then, he found me. Eighteen years later, he rescued me again – in much simpler terms, of course. By loving me, by giving me the fairy tale I’d always hoped for, he provided me with the perfect life. Now, he needs to be saved. It’s my turn to be strong, to be brave, to be valiant. When flames threaten to turn us to ashes, it’s up to me to pull us From the Wreckage.

5 out of 5 stars

I have been eagerly anticipating this book for a long time. Melissa would post snippets and I would try so hard not to read them so that I wouldn’t want what I couldn't have...well, usually I had to read them because everyone was raving. The snippets were good, but the whole book was totally amazing!

David and Grace were neighbors as kids and David actually saved Grace the night her house caught on fire. That’s also the 2nd to last time they saw each other for 18 years. Luckily in that 10 years, they met other people who made the absolute best friends in any book I’ve read lately. I think the secondary characters are so important to a story and Melissa does them so well!

Jade is actually Grace’s roommate and when you first encounter her, she’s playful and fun loving, but she also has the protective best friend thing going on which made me love her all the more.

Ian has been through all of the firefighter stages with David and they have the typical surface level guy relationship - though you do get to see glimpses of the deeper love here and there. Ian’s way of helping David get in touch with Grace shows that he’s not really all that bad a buy and he has a softer side that just isn’t fully exposed:

“But you pretty much won the lottery on that fairy-tale line of bullshit chicks love. Boy rescues girl from burning house. Girl moves away and doesn’t see boy for eighteen years. I guarantee it, if you want to get to know her, she’ll let you. All you have to do is ask.”

And thus begins the relationship for David and Grace. David’s patience with the relationship and the way he made Grace feel wanted and desired made my heart swell. He’s truly one of the best book boyfriends ever:

“You fit perfectly here,” I whisper into her auburn locks. “I’ll prove it to you. In more ways than just sex. I’ll make you see how I see you.”

I can’t even express how much I loved these two and how hard it was to quit reading and enjoy time with my family when all I really wanted to do was read the rest of their story. Melissa is such a wonderful storyteller and if you’re looking for a great book to inspire you and make you feel all the feels, check out this one!

Things weren’t easy and David & Grace definitely have bumps to overcome, but this story is worth every tear I cried - both from happiness and sadness. Their story needs to be told to everyone who will listen. It’s a wonderful story that will leave you asking for more.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Melissa Collins has always been a book worm. Studying Literature in college ensured that her nose was always stuck in a book. She followed her passion for reading to the most logical career choice: English teacher. Her hope was to share her passion for reading and the escapism of books to her students. Having spent more than a decade in front of a classroom, she can easily say that it’s been a dream. Her passion for writing didn’t start until more recently. When she was home on maternity leave in early 2012, she read her first romance novel and her head filled with the passion, angst and laughter of the characters who she read about it. It wasn’t long before characters of her own took shape in her mind. Their lives took over Melissa’s brain and The Love Series was born.
