Author: Kira Barker
Title: Caught in the Middle
Genre: BDSM | Erotica | Polyamory/Menage
Release Date: August 12, 2014

For years now, resident surgeon Erin Slater has been focused on her career. Sexual frustration has her on edge, and it seems like a wet dream come true when her best friend Jack and his roommate Simon offer to help her scratch that itch. Their afternoon of debauchery leaves her yearning for more, a craving that Simon, an experienced Dom himself, is only too happy to satisfy. But there’s also Jack, who she’s closer to than anyone else in the world. When emotions factor into the equation, things get complicated, forcing Erin to make a decision which man she will choose - but why can’t she have both?

Kira Barker has always enjoyed telling stories. It has kept her sane through high school and college, and has become a true passion since. A geek gamer girl herself, she feels at home reading sci-fi and fantasy as much as writing romance. She likes her plots gritty, her smut realistic, and doesn’t mind getting her hands dirty when it comes to research. When she’s not writing, she loves annoying her cats or cruising country roads on her motorcycle.

I go into writing this review with very mixed feelings. Let me start by saying, it was HOT - like steaming hot. The sex scenes (which are the majority of the book) are very well written and definitely leave the reader squirming in their seats. If you're into BDSM, descriptive sex, and kinky MFM threesomes, this book is for you. The author seems to have done in depth research, making the scenes of BDSM very believable and give the reader a full mental image of that world.

Now for my dilemma. Each character in this book carried a very strong personality with snark, sarcasm, arrogance, and a bit of humor. In short, they all felt very one dimensional to me. It was hard to differentiate between the characters' personalities because they were practically the same. And the circumstances that set Erin up for her sexual rendezvous with her best friend, Jack and his roommate, Simon, seemed very anticlimactic to me.

Again, let me stress this book isn't bad. It was creative and well written; it just lacked the emotional depth that we all know I LOVE. I would definately recommend this book to anyone who wants hot, sticky, kinky, steamy sex, because, baby, let me tell you, this book has it.
