This is book 4 of the Top Shelf Series by Alta Hensley. Each one of the books gives us a glimpse of one of the owners of the Spiked Rose. These men are powerful, hot as hell and take what they want. Each one has a past laced with mystery and something that they are running from or trying to forget. Alec is no different.
Alec is trying to outrun the Iron Colts Brotherhood and protect his best friend’s little girl Makayla Knox. Only Makayla isn't a child any longer is has turned into a beautiful young woman who Alec wants. And what Alec wants he gets. Even if his head is telling him he shouldn't.
Personally, I loved the taboo Uncle Alec turned sexy hot Alec that just had to have Makayla. The push and pull at the beginning of this book enthralled me. I could not flip the pages fast enough.
The drawback to this story was that I had to keep reminding myself that Makayla was twenty and young. She is my least favorite heroine in the Top Shelf Series so far but between Alec and the mystery with the Iron Colts Brotherhood and the crazy rituals, it more than made up for me getting irritated at Makayla.
For me, this book could have been longer. I needed more backstory on Alec and more on the Brotherhood. There are some holes that I would like filled in and hope in the future we might get the answers. Overall, this is a must-read book and series.
