As Tampa Bay's star center, Mark Carmelo's life was hockey, and after a bitter and public break up, all he wanted to do was focus on the game.
Until he saw her.
The one that got away.
The one he thought he'd never see again.

For thirteen years, Stevie West drowned in her lackluster life. Recently divorced from her “roommate” with passionless benefits, she was ready to start over. On her own.
Until she ran into him.
The same man she'd met one year ago.
The temptation that had finally given her the courage to find herself again.

When lightning strikes twice, there’s no way to deny the chemistry it creates.
But with both of them still nursing old wounds, Mark and Stevie will have to find a way around the other's defenses, a way to breakaway and score the one thing they never expected… love.

Monique's Review
5 of 5 Hearts
This book was amazing. These characters met by chance in a bar and during that precarious meeting spurred them each into reevaluating their individual lives, and In turn it would ultimately bring them back to each other.

Mark, sweet, handsome, Mark. He was great, he loved and cared fiercely but beneath all that love he had to grow. He had to learn to not be held back by others actions in the past. He loved Stevie the only way a woman like her deserved. Free from boundaries and boxes, she could be her.

Stevie, she broke my heart. She had me rooting for her to keep fighting through pre-placed boundaries back to the spitfire she was at heart. She gained love, but also self awareness and strength to stand for who she was and what she wanted in life and Mark, he was strong enough to let her fly.

“Every breath I took was filled with her scent, and I was transported to the night I’d met her. The smell of the ocean in her hair and I was home.”

Amazing read, i sure hope the supporting cast gets some books too!
Lora's Review
4 out of 5 stars

Mark and Stevie had one night together a year ago - and they didn’t do anything more than hold hands and share stories - that Mark has been unable to forget. Stevie was married and he wasn’t a cheater. Then they see each other again at the same bar and Stevie isn’t wearing her ring.

I enjoyed this story. I thought Mark’s family was great. His sister was just what I would want in a big sister - hard-nosed, but caring, giving and always looking out for his best interests. Stevie’s best friend was a hoot! And Bryson - I just hope he gets his own book very soon!

I felt like this story moved along nicely and though the tension was deep a few times, I loved how Stevie and Mark talked and loved each other. This author was able to put me in the hockey rink and the accounting office with ease and I felt like I was watching the whole thing happen as I read the novel. I can only hope this is the first book in a series of hockey books because I LOVE hockey romances!
