This story is a great read with action, romance, suspense, and more. It is not my first by this author and will definitely not be my last, BUT it wasn’t my favorite either. Mr Hildreth does a FABulous job of writing alpha heroes who tell it like it is and go after what they want. Michael Tripp is no different. This was the first time in the novel I really found his alpha sexiness, but it wasn’t the last:
“Tonight I decided I want to devote a portion of the time and effort needed to eventually earn the right to watch you get dressed in the morning. And when that time comes -- when I’ve finally earned that right -- I want to sit back and enjoy watching you pull your panties over your thighs and up on your hips until you get them situated just right. Then, I want to watch you wrap your bra around your perfectly shaped breasts and reach around to clasp it while you’re watching me watch you.”
Terra is a mafia princess and isn’t totally honest with Michael about who she is or what she does for a living. They start their relationship with lies and the entire novel I just kept waiting for it all to blow up in their faces. I felt like I was constantly on edge while reading and then disappointed a little bit about the outcome when only SOME of the lies are revealed.
All that said, I must say that watching them develop their relationship was sweet and gave me a great perspective into what they both really wanted out of life despite what their jobs might be. I enjoyed this story and just hope that Mr Hildreth doesn’t leave the story as is and gives us more of this couple...and their friends because I absolutely loved Michael’s best friend, Cap, and can’t wait to get to know more about him!!
