Hunter and Payne come together at the lowest of times for Hunter and Payne is determined to help him. Payne is a natural caretaker and Hunter is very broken and in need of care. It seems like an easy fit...and it really is.
The relationships in this book are easy going and well developed. I enjoyed getting to know this crew even though it was my first book in the series, I followed everything with ease, though there were moments I’m sure were more special for those who have read the other books and are more invested in those characters.
I thought the story was paced well and the events were believable. Hunter’s heartbreak was enough to steal my breath more than once. Payne’s commanding nature complimented his caregiver instincts perfectly. Overall, this story was good and something I think others could enjoy as well.
Ari McKay is the professional pseudonym for Arionrhod and McKay, who have been writing together for over a decade. Their collaborations encompass a wide variety of romance genres, including contemporary, fantasy, science fiction, gothic, and action/adventure.
