5 out of 5 stars
I love this duo. Their books always leave me smiling and this one is no different. Luca stole my heart from the first page because he was dedicated to protecting and loving his family. Francis was hilariously sheltered and witty at the same time. Let's not forget the star of the book - Chandler, Frannie's dog who yaps at just the right times and brings joy to both Luca and Francis throughout the book.
Luca has a couple of lines the in the book that helped him secure top hero status for me. First of all, they were talking about Bucket Lists and what would be on Frannie's. Since her life was so sheltered and she seemed to be simple. riding a Ferris wheel was at the top of her list, but she was embarrassed by that. Luca's reaction was perfect:
He grabs my had, placing a tender kiss to the inside of my wrist.
"Silly, isn't it?"
"Not at all. It's your bucket list. Not someone else's. Everyone has a different take on what's special to them. Some wishes are small. some big."
Then later in the book he decides that he has to have Frannie for his own and his thoughts make me smile even after finishing the book:
As soon as I get my family back - and I will - I'm taking this woman as mine. She'll be forever my captive. Forever mine.
I loved the way the story played out. I loved the extra points of view we got in a few chapters. The epilogue left me reeling for more. Overall, this book is a great find and I can't wait to get some additional work from these two authors!!
