BLURB:
Micah Hudson and Jude MacMillian were both lonely teenagers. One the new kid
and one the target of relentless bullying, they quickly became friends. But
when friendship grew into more, the relationship was too much for either to
handle. As their tenuous bond was tested, everything tumbled down, leaving
them lonely once again.
A decade later, Micah is on the brink of losing his will to live. Beyond
exhausted from lying to everyone, including himself, Micah thinks of the one
person who knows his deepest secret. Desperate and alone, Micah makes the
only decision he feels he has: he must leave. But his need for closure
depends on one thing.
Can Jude make room in his Unsteady life for Micah once again?

A Special Message from the Author:
It’s no secret it’s been a while since I last published – close to a year, actually. And while this is my thirteenth publication, I feel so proud of this book for a very different reason than solely the number of books I’ve written. See, the part of this journey of which I’m so proud is that in addition to writing and publishing book – I had a baby this year! I started writing about a year after having my third son. And in those four years, I’ve published a lot. And it’s not that I wasn’t proud with that work, but for some reason it was easier.
That reason was my fourth son! I didn’t have any delusions of grandeur that keeping up my writing would be easy with the new addition to our family, but I figured I would fall into my groove soon enough. Well, I didn’t. It took a hell of a lot longer to do that than I would have liked to. And the struggles that I battled while writing the book ended becoming part of the struggles of my characters. This book is about finding that steady force in your life, that something on which you can focus when everything feels like it’s fading away. My family has become that force and as always, family comes to play an important theme in my writing.
The struggles bearing down on Micah and Jude are so real, it’s nearly impossible not to find something in this story with which each reader can identify. From overbearing parents, or neglectful ones, to mean teenage bullies and even the adult ones, Unsteady is as realistic as fiction can get. So even though it’s been a while since I’ve put out a book, you have to give this one a try. I know you won’t regret it.
Lora's Review:
5 out of 5 stars
Micah and Jude….two damaged souls bound together in high school and lost for ten years to reconnect somewhat more damaged. Melissa does M/m romances so, so good! I can’t believe how deep I get lost in her books.
This story is no different! Micah stole a little piece of my heart in On Higher Ground, but then I was sort of mad at him while reading this story….not a lot mad, just a little and he more than redeemed himself in the end. Jude was so great as a high school football coach who takes care of his dad and allowing Micah back into his life without question.
In two words, this is simply a wonderful story!!! I love how the characters fought their inner demons and connected on such a deep level. I like how Micah redeemed himself and Jude didn’t quit fighting for what he really wanted. This story just left me breathless and I can’t wait for more from this author!!!
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Melissa Collins has always been a book worm. Studying Literature in college ensured that her nose was always stuck in a book. She followed her passion for reading to the most logical career choice: English teacher. Her hope was to share her passion for reading and the escapism of books to her students. Having spent more than a decade in front of a classroom, she can easily say that it’s been a dream.
Her passion for writing didn’t start until more recently. When she was home on maternity leave in early 2012, she read her first romance novel and her head filled with the passion, angst and laughter of the characters who she read about it. It wasn’t long before characters of her own took shape in her mind. Their lives took over Melissa’s brain and The Love Series was born.
