I give this story three and a half hearts! I really enjoyed the suspense and mystery this story brought to the table.

This book is full of mystery and suspense. The very first paragraph of this book grabbed me. I just had to know why someone would kill someone in the manner this man was killed! The creativity and detail Author Jerri Drennen added to this story made it exciting to read. She did a great job of unraveling this mystery.

Dane Reynolds is a seasoned homicide detective assigned to the shocking murder at Troubadours action house. He is not a fan of the art world and really cannot see why anyone would be. He cracked me up at how he did not try to hide his feelings about the subject. Dane has one of those personalities that sucks you in. He’s cocky, sexy! He is a total guy’s guy. The moment you get a glimpse into his softer side you will turn to mush. I love the sexy and gruff detective!

Simone Preston is the gorgeous artist caught up in the middle police investigation. Her past just keeps coming back to haunt her. This woman wouldn’t hurt a fly and cannot figure out who would want to see her suffer. I mean who kills two people and plants the evidence against someone? Yes, she has had a few shady boyfriends but she has moved on. Or is trying to anyways. I really felt for Simone. This girl just could not catch a break.

Dane could lose everything he worked his entire carrier for if he gets involved with a murder suspect. He keeps telling himself to avoid the mysterious beauty Simone. But it just seems fate has other plans for him. He felt the pull that kept leading him back to Simone.

I enjoyed the twist and turns this story unfolds for the reader. It drove me batty when the killer was talking and thinking. I kept telling the book to give me a name! Author Jerri Drennen did a great job keeping my attention with the suspense and mystery.
