This book consumed me from the moment I cracked it open to the moment I closed. It I just had to know who killed the prestigious lawyer Mr. King from the small town of Azalea, Mississippi.
What more could a girl want than a book filled with lies, deceit, suspense, murder, and a web full of chaos to keep her up all night reading?! This book had it all and then some. I loved how this book just kept unraveling. I literally pouted if I had to put it down. I devoured it in a little over 24 hours. This book was such a mind trip.
Detective Arabella Matthews was such a delight to read. I loved how she did not back down to the Kings. She did not care that they had money or power. She had a job to do and no one would be getting in her way or taint her crime scenes. She was good at what she did.
Benton King is a prestigious lawyer who worked with his father at their law firm. This man does not tolerate anyone and is not used to anyone telling him no. The moment Detective Matthews tells him no you can see the clash of the Titans about to happen.
Benton does not like how detective Matthews is handling his father case when she first arrived at the crime scene but quickly realized that she is good at what she does. He realized she had many layers to her like he does and wanted to get to know her even if she was keeping him at arm's length.
I liked the slow burn between Benton and Arabella. It was like a story inside the murder mystery. These two were on a mission to solve Benton's father's murder and figure out what the heck was going on in the town. They realized that they had something as well and never would have realized it before.
The supporting cast in this was great. I loved Arabella's little one and Benton's brother.
