She’s fighting for control. . . . Paige Roberts learned to fend for herself growing up. Now she’s doing everything possible to give her daughter, Casey, the stability she never had. But when the vivacious five-year-old decides she’s done wearing her prosthesis, Paige faces her toughest challenge yet: trusting a handsome, brooding stranger who simply wants to help.
He’s struggling to connect. . . . JT McKinney lost more than his leg in a car accident that stole his dreams of pro football. Eight years later, he’s made a new life for himself far away from his old one. His business is developing cutting-edge prosthetics and he’s more than happy to turn his attention to machines instead of people. Still, he can’t shake the feeling that something’s missing.
Will they take a chance on love? . . . When JT gets the chance to help Paige’s daughter, he takes it. He never planned on the two of them tearing down his walls or teaching him to believe in himself again. Paige might not believe in happily ever afters, but JT wants more than anything to be her prince. They’ll both have to let go of the past if they want a future.

5 out of 5 stars!!!
Jake “JT” McKinney is so much like his brothers and I fell in love with him instantly. His shy nature and sweet personality made me wish he was real from the first page!!
Paige is a determined single mom who isn’t looking for romance. In fact, she doesn’t even believe in romance or princes or anything that would make a relationship real. Her daughter Casey totally stole the show in this book though. She was so cute and totally said things that I hear my kids say all the time...and questions! That girl could ask some questions!
I liked the flow of the story and how it wasn’t instant chemistry and bedroom romps. I liked that JT had to work at it and even questioned his worth. I liked that Paige worked her butt off to be the best mom and person she could be. I liked that she didn’t want to take advantage of things or use the system. She wanted to earn her way.
I already said that I had an instant like for JT, but it took a little longer to find myself cheering for Paige. She waffled a little too much sometimes, but she earned my love thru the novel as well. And it didn't hurt that her best friend/cousin was a hoot! This quote when they are first meeting JT cracked me up:
“My God, he’s melting my eyeballs and he wants to be your hero.”
This book really was everything I’ve been waiting so long for and I hope there are more McKinney brother books because this family is so much a part of my fictional world I don’t want to give them up!!
